On 2 July 1266, the Treaty of Perth is signed between Magnus VI of Norway and Alexander III of Scotland, ending the Scottish-Norwegian War of 1262-66. Scotland gains the Western Isles and the Isle of Man and confirms Norwegian sovereignty over Orkney and Shetland.
