On 7 July 1297, following a stand-off between Scottish and English forces at Irvine, and with in-fighting amongst the Scottish leadership, the Scottish nobles, including Robert the Bruce, submit to Henry de Percy. The event is known as ‘The Capitulation of Irvine’.
